New feature: Private Language Translator

Startpage’s private translator makes it possible to process text translations without disclosing personal data.

Startpage continues to build out our ecosystem of private search alternatives ensuring that everyone has the option to search and browse the Internet without surveillance or tracking. Our latest addition to Startpage’s privacy-safe features is Private Language Translator.

Starting today, the new feature supports the autodetection of 109 languages and can simply be activated by entering “translate” into the Startpage search box.

Currently, non-private search engine, Google’s translate feature supports over 500 million total users, with more than 100 billion words translated daily. The goal of Startpage’s Private Language Translator is to create an opportunity for some of those billions of personal messages and text translations to be processed without passing a person’s Personally Identifiable Information (PII).

And finally, like all searches on Startpage a person’s IP Address and personal data are all removed per search, ensuring there is never a trace or history of their activity.

How to use Private Language Translator

To activate Private Language Translator enter “translate” into the search bar.

Now have a private search for yourself and let us know what you think!  We welcome all user feedback and are interested in understanding further private features that would help you.
