Introducing New Startpage Extension Feature: Escape Route
Someone looking over your shoulder trying to sneak a peek at your screen? If you’ve connected online while at work, at a crowded coffee shop, or even at school, you know the panic of feeling someone’s eyes on your screen.
That’s why we’ve built a new feature for our Privacy Protection extension: Escape Route.
Escape Route allows you to quickly hide your search and browsing activity from anyone that may come up behind you and see your screen. By tapping on your ESC key, you can quickly and easily blur your current tab or replace it with a fresh Startpage.com tab.
“It’s never been so easy to protect your computer screen privacy, even in your own home,” said Startpage’s General Manager Alexandra Kubiak. “Startpage has always offered tools to shield from online tracking, but we wanted to go a step further to physically protect our users anywhere – on an airplane, a library computer, or simply in a shared home environment.”
Startpage’s number one mission is to give our users peace of mind while they search and browse online. Given the current climate, we created this feature specifically to protect users who may be searching for sensitive women’s health information in uncomfortable environments.
With this new addition, your ESC key and privacy protection is more powerful than ever. Don’t forget! The extension also gives users peace of mind their search is completely private as well as protection from cookies, trackers, and even government surveillance.
