We hope you’ve been enjoying all of the social content that we’ve been sharing for Data Privacy Week, the lead up to International Data Privacy Day. But some of you, especially tech professionals and enthusiasts in Europe, may have seen our name somewhere else on Data Privacy Day this past Sunday…

We were proud to partner with Vivaldi, another European company fighting for data privacy, to put together an opinion piece outlining the importance of occasions like Data Privacy Day. While we may not celebrate it the way we celebrate other holidays, it does provide us an opportunity to look at the state of user privacy, the victories we’ve accomplished in the past year, and the work that still needs to be done. It can be tempting to look at some victories that regulators in the U.S. and E.U. have scored against tech giants and assume that the problem is finally fixing itself. Make no mistake, the tide is turning. But it’s not turning simply because regulators have finally decided to start doing their jobs. That’s why we wanted to tell the world more about who is REALLY starting to hold tech companies accountable for their actions, and who truly holds the key to a safer and more private future.
